ABOUT DAVID CALVIN FURNITURE STUDIO
David’s talent for and love of design and construction can be traced throughout his life. From tearing apart things (e.g., his mom’s typewriter, his dad’s lawnmower, his own cassette player) just to see how things worked … to thriving in high school woodworking and metal shop … to pursuing a degree in industrial technology, David’s passion for all things design and construction has been front and center.
David applied his talents to two decades in the aquatics industry, where he designed and built waterparks and large natatorium pools in the Midwest. While advancing his career, he became deeply interested in woodworking and began making furniture for himself, family, and friends nearly 20 years ago.
Since studying new methods and techniques in 2013 at the well-known Center for Furniture Craftsmanship (Maine) and honing intricate veneering skills at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking (Indiana), David has made furniture design and craftsmanship his full-time passion and can be found every day working in at David Calvin Furniture Studio in St. Petersburg, FL.
David has a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology with an emphasis in visual communications and a minor in business management. In addition to furniture craftsmanship, David has a passion for golf (he’s always trying to shoot under his age in nine holes); photography; classic rock (preferably on vinyl); the St. Louis Cardinals; and his wife, Amy, of nearly 25 years.
